I've been eating at Chester's since I was ten. This place is a great intro to other types of Chinese food/culture. The waiters are friendly and the food is DELICIOUS! The owner's name is Kenny. He may not seem like it at first, but he is very friendly and down to earth.
We've gotten so many dishes from here, let's see if I can remember. We always bring large groups :
-War Wonton Soup
-Egg drop soup
-beef and broccoli
-sweet and sour chicken
-salt & pepper porkchops
-green beans
-three flavor noodles
-crispy beef
-walnut shrimp
-fried rice
-fish with black bean sauce
I'm pretty sure there are more dishes we've tried, but everything I've listed here, we LOVE.
They have a bathroom, and their decor is a nice conversation starter. Especially during the holidays. You'll understand when you go -

So we go back into time.... This place has been here since 1963! In Camarillo! Was Camarillo even a developed city back then? Perhaps it was?
Well this dilapidated mall looks like its been here since 1963 and know one picked up a paint brush or screw driver.
I walked in and the lady at the door asked how she can help me, which was less expected than, saying "1 person for seating" or to take out order? , etc....
She sat me and she was pleasant. The waiter has seen much better days. This guy does not want to be here. He has no desire or interest in this business. Just living he is barely getting by.
Picking up the plate of the other table as the plates and utencils clammer hard and ring in my ear.
But! He brought me my beer rather swiftly, with a lemon on the glass, which I like for Mexican beers. This to me shows either just a way to serve this beer, or experience has it that while drinking you get the lemon flavor which goes nicely.
Well that was the best thing in this place!
Lets see the food..?.
Oh boy!
Do you remember in the freezer section, they would have LeMenu brand Cinese food in a 2 nylon packet set that you boil in water? Well, THAT IS EXACTLY what you get on your plate. I took a fe bites and left most of my dish untouched. The fried rice was dry and had pork bits in it that looked dry.....and worse was the shrimp entre. You couldnt taste any of the veggies, nor even feel the shrimp texture. What a waste of time, effort and money. In the 50-60 years Chester has been here, he sure learned how to pour a beer! Thanks for that!
What was interesting was watching this older 60-70 year old guy say how he enjoyed his meal. Wow...
Btw, I was not just making some random analogy about it being frozen food... I am serious, I think this maybe some commercial version, AS a number of hotels use in serving food. That is what I tasted from it, regardless if it is or not. Not the first time I have come across it.

The orange beef was wonderful. The duck was too tough to eat. When I mentioned it to the waiter he got visibly upset and told me I'd have to tell the manager v
He was standing 3 feet from us and near the manager but wouldn't tell him or get him.
I told the manager and his response was "do you want it or not?".
No, I didn't want it or I wouldn't have mentioned it.
Orange beef would have been 5 stars but rude service always trumps good food.
So sorry we drove so far to try someplace new. -

Chester's Asia Restaurant is everything you want in gourmet Chinese cuisine and more! The restaurant itself is beautiful in an unassuming small strip mall. The menu boasts a wide variety of deliciousness for all tastes including vegetarian options.
My friend and I went for lunch and for literally under $8 each we had a feast that left us happy and full!
I was excited because of the tofu options and opted for the mixed vegetable with fried tofu which was not over fried but crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. I loved the fact that the sauce was light and filled with flavor too!
With lunch you get soup, rice, vegetable egg roll, crispy wonton, tea and entree! Under $8 seriously! And a Chinese fortune cookie of course! The place was jamming and the service was perfect.
This place was celebrating its 50th Anniversary and I can see how and why!
We will be back soon and maybe even to celebrate Chinese New Year on February 5th!
Thanks Chester's Asia Restaurant! -

First, the food were great. Chow mein, soft, it looks like spaghetti noodles, but they do tastes good per my wife. Good quality/tasty food. Dirty dishes, dried food/stain were left on the soup bowl and tea cup. We had to ask them for replacements. One of the server were eating on one of the tables and he is not even on break because you can see him serving food to customers, also using his personal phone, not sure if he is even washing his hands. The staff were attentive. The restrooms are clean and maintained. Surprisingly, after eating, I did not smell like chinese food compare to other restaurants, probably good ventilation in the kitchen. I did not get sick after eating so I would say it was prepared properly. Overall 3.5 stars IMHO.
A big negative: They let a solicitor come in and ask each table for help, or whatever, not right. Disturbing everyone's personal space. I would come back here for more. Give this place a try.
